The Downers Grove North girls cross-country team has a trip planned to Peoria this weekend, and for good reason.

The Trojans finished second with 73 points at Oct. 31's Lockport Sectional and head to the state meet Nov. 7 at Detweiller Park.

Sandburg won the meet with 51 points.

North was led Samantha Fry, who finished the 3.1-mile Dellwood Park course in 19 minutes, 36 seconds. Gabriella Effrein (eighth-19:54), Gabrielle Hesslau (12th-20:11), Allison Proffitt (20th-20:31), Jillian Kothanek (27th-20:42), Jessica Bates (28th-20:43) and Dana Rotz (63rd-21:54) rounded out the Trojans' lineup.

Downers Grove South qualified three individuals out of Lockport -- Jacquelyn Thate (25th-20:39), Rebecca Stearns (29th-20:45) and Casey Harms (30th-20:45).

In the Lockport boys competition, Downers Grove North's Benjamin Silver finished third in 16:21 and heads to Peoria.
