Downers North finishes third in conference

The Downers Grove North girls swimming team started the postseason Oct. 31 at the West Suburban Silver meet held at Proviso West in Hillside.

The Trojans finished with 244 points. Hinsdale Central won with 321 followed by Lyons Township (291).

Two conference titles went to Haley Sims, who set a new pool record in winning the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 56.88 seconds). And she would set a new pool mark in winning the 100 freestyle (53.93).

North earned six third-place finishes.

It started off with the 200 medley relay as Emily Wilkinson, Kate Smith, Sims and Caitlin Landry were victorious in 1:53.09.

The 200 freestyle relay of Landry, Emma Buckley, Marie Sandacz and Anna Schoenberger earned a time of 1:46.64.

The 400 freestyle relay of Landry, Buckley, Wilkinson and Sims wrapped up in 3:48.75.

Wilkinson took third in the 200 individual medley (2:17.20) and 100 butterfly (1:01.48) and Meghan Downey scored 336.05 points in diving.
