Downers Grove South held off Bolingbrook 10-7 on Aug. 25 in the season opener.

The game had been delayed a day due to the recent severe weather and it was moved from Downers Grove South to Benedictine University in Lisle.

The Mustangs scored first when Bolingbrook fumbled on its initial play from scrimmage.

The Mustangs extended their lead to 10-0 in the second quarter as they capitalized on another Bolingbrook turnover.

Gaining possession on the Bolingbrook 46, the Mustangs scored five plays later on a 5-yard run by Scotty Williams with 11 minutes remaining in the first half.

Bolingbrook then drove 77 yards in six plays. The drive was keyed by senior quarterback Shadonta Travis, who rushed for 20 yards and passed for 46.

Senior running back Erik Smith culminated the drive with a 5-yard touchdown run. The 5-foot-11-inch, 185-pound senior has committed to Wisconsin.

The Raiders' failed to capitalize on a scoring opportunity late in the first half and there would be no more scoring the rest of the night.
