Berwyn man arrested in Downers Grove burglary

November 6, 2009
A Berwyn man was arrested Nov. 5 in connection with a residential burglary in Downers Grove.

Javier Granados, 19, was charged with one count of residential burglary in connection with an Oct. 27 burglary in the area of 55th Street and Fairview Avenue.

Granados also has been charged with four more residential burglaries that occurred in Cook County.

Downers Grove Police detectives have been working with the Cook County Major Case Assistance Team which includes detectives from Western Springs, LaGrange, Berwyn, Forest Park and Brookfield Police Departments.

On Oct. 28, Downers Grove Police Chief Robert Porter issued a crime alert to the residents of Downers Grove after a string of burglaries that occurred in the village. Granados has been positively linked to only one of these burglaries, but is believed to be part of a larger group of people committing these burglaries, according to a Downers Grove police press release.

Porter commended residents for calling the police department upon seeing any suspicious incidents.
