Friday
School party: Pierce Downer School in Downers Grove will hold Pierce-A-Palooza from 7 to 10 p.m. at the Barn at Arabian Knights, 6526 Clarendon Hills Road, Willowbrook. The annual fundraiser features three live local bands, raffles and silent auction.
Edible designs: Teens can decorate cookies from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Downers Grove Library, 1050 Curtiss St., Downers Grove. Sugar cookies, sprinkles and frosting will be provided. Lunch for veterans: The Center for History will hold a lunch for veterans and their families at 11 a.m. at 315 W. Front St., Wheaton. The event is part of the center's Dignity, Service & Valor oral history project. A 1944 MB (Willys) World War II military Jeep will be on display with pieces from the center's trench art collection. School fundraiser: The Belle Aire School PTA is sponsoring a Cheers to 40 Years fundraiser from 7:30 to 11:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 4000 Saratoga Ave., Downers Grove. Call 630-719-5820.

Bagels with the board: Meet and talk with the District 99 Board of Education from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Downers Grove Public Library.

Craft show: Members and friends of the Book and Paper Guild will have their seventh annual sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Warren Tavern, 3S540 Second St., Warrenville. Home accessory items, hand-bound books, journals, cards, original art, ornaments, pottery, jewelry, hand knits and other items will be featured.

Pantry volunteers: The Downers Grove Area FISH Pantry will hold a volunteer recruitment and training session from 10 a.m. to noon at Community Bank of Downers Grove, 1111 Warren Ave. The pantry, at 4340 Prince St., provides support to residents in need. Book collection: Downers Grove Area AAUW's bimonthly collection of used books will be held from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Eagle Storage, 555 Rogers St., Downers Grove. Paperbacks, hard covers, textbooks published after 2003 are accepted. Books will be sold at the 52nd annual Used Book Sale in June.
