Olson tops straw poll

DuPage County Board member Debra Olson was the frontrunner in a straw poll held Oct. 18 by the Downers Grove Township Republican Organization in the race for DuPage County Board chairman.

Olson had 1,029 points, followed by Gary Grasso, mayor of Burr Ridge, with 1,007 points. They were followed by state Sens. Carole Pankau (956 points) and Dan Cronin (860 points).

Downers Grove Township Republican Chairman Brian Krajewski and the township GOP organization hosted their annual brunch which featured a debate among the candidates. More than 500 people attended the annual event including gubernatorial candidates Adam Andrzejewski, Sen. Bill Brady, Sen. Kirk Dillard, Dan Proft and three-term incumbent Chairman Bob Schillerstrom.
