East's Allen scores 6 TDs in 2OT win

September 27, 2008

ST. CHARLES -- Wes Allen rushed for the winning touchdown in double overtime to lead St. Charles East to a thrilling 42-41 victory in a back-and-forth shootout against the Lake Park on Friday night.

Allen was the central component of the Saints' attack, accumulating a staggering 285 yards rushing on 43 carries and all six of East's touchdowns.

The Saints led 28-20 going into the fourth quarter, but the Lancers struck for a 25-yard touchdown pass with 4:26 and converted a two-point conversion to help force overtime.

Allen's big rushing night accounted for 75 percent of East's 380 yards of total offense. Streamwood 40, East Aurora 21 -- The Sabres notched their first win of the year against a familiar victim.

They now have just three wins in the past three years, each of which have come at the expense of East Aurora.

Wayne Holloway led the Sabres with 124 yards on 15 carries. Derrick King added 84 more yards on the ground and three scores.

Noel Rivera rushed eight times for 13 yards and two touchdowns. He also finished with 3-of 5-passing for 33 yards and a touchdown.

Jim Kaltinger only caught one pass, but he made it count, finding the end zone from 18 yards out.

Genoa-Kingston 28, Winnebago 12 -- G-K faced an unfamiliar situation at the end of the first quarter against Winnebago. The Cogs trailed 12-7.

The deficit was short-lived, however, as G-K stormed back to win going away in its Big Northern Conference West Division opener.

Chris Wilkins continued his standout play leading the Cogs (5-0, 1-0) both through the air and on the ground. Wilkins rushed 22 times for 112 yards and two scores, while completing 5 of 11 passes for two more scores.

T.C. Holterhaus caught both of Wilkins' touchdown passes en route to a 100-yard day.

Robbie Thurlby added 93 rushing yards on 15 carries for the Cogs, who are 5-0 for the first time since 1993.

Huntley 41, Grayslake North 0 -- Jordan Neukirch rumbled for 165 yards and three touchdowns as the Red Raiders rolled in their Fox Valley Conference Fox Division opener.

Huntley kept its perfect season alive in the process, improving to 5-0.

Cary-Grove 41, Jacobs 0 -- The Golden Eagles had no answer for the Trojans' ground attack as they lost their fourth straight game to slip to 1-4. Cary-Grove's Eric Chandler had his way against the Jacobs defense, running for 211 yards in the Fox Valley Conference Valley Division opener for both teams.
