All-Area Third Team

April 3, 2009

JUSTIN BIEBER
Hampshire, 6-foot-1, junior, guard

• HIGHLIGHTS: Bieber helped guide the Whip-Purs to a share of the Big Northern Conference East Division title. The unanimous All-BNC East selection led Hampshire with 10.7 points and 57 3-pointers.

• QUOTE: "A lot of teams played us zone and drew a box and one on Justin because of his shooting ability," Hampshire coach Bob Barnett said. "Justin was who they were looking at and worrying about."

MARCUS HENRY
Dundee-Crown, 6-foot, senior, guard

• HIGHLIGHTS: Henry played a key role in the Chargers' fourth-place finish in Class 4A. The All-Fox Valley Conference honoree was D-C's second-leading scorer with 9.1 points per game. He also grabbed 4.7 rebounds and dished out 2.1 assists.

• QUOTE: "Marcus Henry was definitely there when we needed him," D-C coach Lance Huber said. "He always guarded the other team's second biggest player and was our secondary ballhandler. Inch-for-inch he was maybe one of the best rebounders in the area."

TERELL JOHN
Larkin, 6-foot-3, senior, forward

• HIGHLIGHTS: John was a force in the post for the Royals. He was Larkin's leading scorer with 12.7 points and top rebounder with 7.2 boards per game. John also recorded 1.6 steals per game.

• QUOTE: "Terell was our most valuable player," Larkin coach Larry Hight said. "He's got some untapped talent that he's discovering later in his career. He's very coachable, never argues and is very unselfish."

MARCUS REDBURG
Elgin, 6-foot-5, senior, forward

• HIGHLIGHTS: Redburg led the Maroons in scoring with 15.9 points per game and proved to be a pivotal force in the paint. He hopes to walk on at Western Illinois.

• QUOTE: "Marcus still hasn't reached his potential as a basketball player," Elgin coach Mike Sitter said. "I think a couple years down the road he's going to be much improved."

ALEX SANCHEZ
South Elgin, 5-foot-8, senior, guard

• HIGHLIGHTS: A three-year starting point guard, Sanchez helped guide the Storm to a school record 19 wins. The All-Upstate Eight Conference honoree averaged 8.9 points. He also led South Elgin with 4.1 assists and 2.0 steals per contest.

• QUOTE: "Alex started it on the defensive end and continued it on the offensive end," South Elgin coach Chaz Taft said. "The way he went is the way South Elgin went."
