Williamson wins again at FVC -- Dundee-Crown's Mike Williamson defended his Fox Valley Conference title at No. 1 singles, beating Jim Capalbo of Crystal Lake Central 6-3, 6-2 in the finals.

Williamson also survived a tough semifinal match against Prairie Ridge's Craig Greenwald.

"Over the past few years the FVC has gotten a lot stronger," said Williamson, who improved to 23-0 this season. "It's a great honor to win the whole thing, especially two years in a row."

Another Chargers player to go deep in the tournament was Andy Schuessler, who finished second at No. 2 singles. Schuessler knocked off top-seeded Matt Miller from Prairie Ridge before falling in a tight three-set match to Cary-Grove's Chris Federighi in the final.

North 2nd at UEC -- St. Charles North wasn't able to overtake Neuqua Valley for the top spot in the Upstate Eight Conference, but maintained the second spot it came into the tournament with.

John Mittvick took second at No. 1 singles, Nikhil Mehta took second at No. 2 and Patrick Corrigan took third at No. 3.

David Johnson and Christian Hoskey took second at No. 1 doubles, Matt Bauman and Andrew Davis took second at No. 2, Alex Enskat and Grant Johnston took third at No. 3 and Stephen Gow and Kevin Moore finished fourth at No. 4.

Boys Volleyball

South Elgin d. Argo -- Andrew Gleason had eight kills and Jim McMahon and Tony Thomas each had six to lead the Storm (8-17) to a 17-25, 25-20, 25-20 win. Robbie Vasquez finished with 23 assists and Akash Patel had a team-high seven digs.
