Girls Track: Jacobs' Ross qualifies for State in 3 events

HUNTLEY -- Jacobs' Sarah Ross qualified for State in three events Saturday at the Huntley Class AA Girls Track Sectional.

Ross won the pole vault (11-feet, 6-inches) and the 100-meter dash (12.52 seconds) and finished second in the 200 (25.48).

Jacobs' Bethany Muscat advanced in the high jump and the Golden Eagles also qualified in the 400 relay (1st in 49.96).

Huntley's Coryn Marzejon, who placed second in the state in the 400 last season, advanced in two individual events. The senior won the 400 in 58.9 and placed second in the 100 in 12.73.

Huntley's Amy Fanella advanced in the triple jump (2nd at 35-9) and the 300 low hurdles (4th in 46.5). Teammate Krissy Bergquist advanced in the triple jump (3rd at 35-7½) and the Red Raiders moved on in the 1,600 relay (3rd in 4:05.26).

Crystal Lake South won the team title with 98 points, while Huntley (64) was second and Jacobs (55) placed third.

Ottawa Sectional -- Burlington Central's 3,200 relay team posted a championship performance at the Ottawa Class AA Sectional. The Rockets advanced to State with a time of 9:49.46. Maggie Gannon, Rachel Latham, Megan Thomas and Katie Puccin comprised that foursome.

Central's Vanessa Perez also advanced, placing third in the 300 low hurdles with a time of 45.99, joining teammate Markelle Turk, who qualified in the 3200 run (2nd in 11:40.37).

Rock Island won the team title with 99 points and Moline was second with 77.
