CARPENTERSVILLE -- The Dundee-Crown volleyball team overcame a nine-point loss in Game 1 to continue their winning ways, downing Huntley in three games 16-25, 25-23, 25-23 on Thursday.
Senior standout Stephanie Thorson led D-C with eight kills, while Kelsi Cook (5 kills) and Katie Cutinello (13 assists) also helped lead the Chargers to victory.
The Red Raiders fell to 1-1, with Toni Jaehnig (2 aces, 11 kills), Amanda Carroll (4 aces,19 assists) and Sam Boesch (3 service points, 2 kills) providing strong efforts in a hard-fought match.
Kirkland-Hiawatha d. Westminster Christian -- After winning the first game, the Warriors lost the final two games and the match 13-25, 25-22, 25-15.
Jessica Benson (7 kills), Hannah Graves (5 kills, 10 assists) and Sarah Rodgers (3 aces, 2 kills) paced Westminster (1-1).
IMSA d. Elgin Academy -- The Hilltoppers (0-1) fell in consecutive games to IMSA 25-6, 25-13.
"We're a still a young team, and we've got a lot of learning to do," Elgin Academy coach Vincente Pena said. "We'll be all right."
Jacobs d. Grayslake Central -- The Golden Eagles (1-0) hit the ground running to nab their first win of the season against Grayslake Central 25-15, 25-18.
Lauren Pigatto (8 kills), Stacie Weinert (2 kills, 6 digs), Amy Cavanaugh (4 kills, 8 digs) and Erica Liss (13 assists) all turned in stellar efforts for Jacobs.
Boys soccer
Streamwood 2, Buffalo Grove 1 -- The Sabres moved to 4-0-1 overall with a victory over Buffalo Grove in the Lake Park Lancer Tournament. Alex Perez led Streamwood with a goal and an assist. Roma Patino (goal) and Edgar Leyva (8 saves) also turned in strong efforts for the Sabres.

Hampshire 188, Stillman Valley 213 -- Connie Ellett (41) led the Whip-Purs to victory Wednesday at the Oak Club in Genoa.
