Chargers storm way to title

ELGIN -- The Chargers of Dundee-Crown ran the competition ragged at the Elgin Invitational at Lords Park on Tuesday with a team score of 17.

Dundee-Crown boasted the top four overall finishers in the boys race in capturing the team title. Anthony Manfrin finished first, posting an impressive time of 15:52. Behind Manfrin were teammates Paul Smith, Nathan Prom and Jon Magnant. Outside the Chargers quadrant of dominance was Don Magnant, who finished seventh.

St. Charles East finished second with team score of 69, with Jordan Heggen (17:09) finishing 10th overall.

Bartlett (100) finished third, with three of their runners finishing in the top 20. Thomas Niewiara (17:40) finished 16th, with teammates Alex Infusino and Josafat Gonzalez in 17th and 18th place, respectively.

Ricardo Mancha placed eighth overall with 17:04 to lead Elgin (144) to fifth place.

Streamwood (197) placed seventh with a 20th overall finish from Roger Klein (18:10).

Larkin (213) finished eighth with Francisco Gonzalez leading the way (17:20), good enough for a 12th-place finish .

South Elgin (216) finished ninth. Its top finisher was Xavier Salazar at 18:23, in 24th place.

The top two teams from the boys' meet were inverted on the girls' side as Bartlett (27) took first place over Dundee-Crown (60).

Alyssa Schneider (18:47), Sam Salinas (19:03) and Kristen Schneider (19:05) finished in the top three for the Hawks.

Third-place finisher Streamwood had two top-10 finishers in Mercedes Mancha (20:02), who finished fifth, and Jordana LeSavage (20:26) was sixth.

Fourth-place St. Charles East was led by Ashley Perez, who finished 12th in 20:56.

The remainder of the girls' field finished with Larkin (103), South Elgin (123), and East Aurora (173).

Sycamore Invitational -- Burlington Central's girls finished the meet tied with Sycamore at 40 points apiece but lost a tiebreaker on the sixth runner from each team.

The Rockets got standout performances from Maggie Gannon (19:51) and Markelle Turk (19:53), who finished first and second, respectively.

The Central boys finished fourth with a team score of 92, and were led by Clint Klien (15th in 18:16) and Sam Moose (20th in 19:18).

G-K meet -- Westminster Christian was led by Zach Holmer, who won in 17:51. Chris Fugiel was fourth in 19:51 for the Warriors.

Westminster's girls were led by Rachel Doby (6th in 25:27).
