On July 20, 1969, Gary Burns got an unexpected day off from his job at the Baskin-Robbins ice cream store on Larkin Avenue in Elgin. "My boss closed the store. He put a sign in the window, 'Closed for the moonwalk,'" said Burns. Burns didn't watch the Apollo 11 adventures, nor did many of his teenage friends.
