Police Report: Felony traffic charge in Elgin

• Felony driving while license suspended: Tammy L. Stechly, 23, of 408 N. Grove Ave., Elgin, was arrested Wednesday on a Class 4 felony charge of driving while license suspended. Stechly's bail is set at $6,000. She is to appear in court Nov. 24.
• False ID: Jorge Gomez-Martinez, 40, of 530 Hill Ave., Elgin, was arrested Wednesday on Class 4 felony charges of driving while license revoked and possession of a fraudulent identification card. Police allegedly caught Gomez-Martinez, a self-admitted Mexican citizen, using a fake Illinois identification card. Gomez-Martinez's bail is set at $12,000. He is to appear in court Nov. 24.

• Retail theft: Renee J. Urbanek, 26, of 480 Valley View Drive, Bartlett, was arrested Tuesday on a Class 3 felony charge of retail theft after she allegedly stole more than $150 worth of merchandise from the Kohl's store in Spring Hill Mall, police report. Urbanek was granted a recognizance bond on $10,000 bail. She is to appear in court Nov. 24.

• Five-car accident: No one was seriously injured in a five-vehicle accident at Route 59 and South Park Place Drive early Wednesday, but the crash backed up traffic for about an hour, police report. A 31-year-old Algonquin man reportedly was headed south on Route 59 near the intersection of West Bartlett Road when his vehicle struck a black 2006 Mazda while changing lanes, police report. As a result, a tan 2006 Chevrolet Malibu was sideswiped, a black 2004 Audi Quattro sustained front-end damage and a black 1990 Ford F250 also was damaged, police said. Officers closed one lane of Route 59 for an hour about 6 a.m. while police investigated the accident, police report. Four of the drivers suffered minor injuries and were transported to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Police report all were listed in good condition as of Wednesday afternoon. Police do not believe the accident was caused by distraction inside the vehicle, alcohol or drug impairment. No charges have been filed yet. Police continue to investigate the cause of the accident.

• Alert neighbor helped cops nab burglars: Two men were arrested at about noon Tuesday after a resident of the 1300 block of Sandcastle reported seeing one of them get out of their car and break into a house through a window. Police said the suspect left the home and was getting back into a car when officers drove up and arrested the two. Charles F. Patton, 47, of Chicago, and Gregory W. Vazquez, 32, of Lake in the Hill each were charged with residential burglary, burglary and possession of burglary tools.
