Police Reports

Elgin

• Felony theft charges: Cheryl L. Western, 42, of 1045 Todd Farm Drive, was arrested Wednesday on a charge of felony theft. Western is accused of stealing jewelry worth more than $300 from an Elgin resident, police said. Her bail was set at $2,000. She is to appear in court Nov. 17.

• Stolen vehicle: A red 2009 Pontiac G6 was reported stolen Tuesday afternoon from the lot of a business in the 1300 block of East Chicago Street.

• Residential burglary: A fur coat and a laptop computer were reported stolen Tuesday evening from a home in the 10 block of Vine Street.

• Stolen vehicle: A teal 1994 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera was reported stolen Tuesday afternoon from a parking lot in the 400 block of Park Street.

Carpentersville

• Teen hit by car: A 14-year-old Carpentersville boy suffered minor injuries Tuesday when a vehicle that was rear-ended was pushed into him, police said. A car driven by a 59-year-old Carpentersville resident was idling at the intersection of Helm Road and Keele Drive about 3 p.m. when a vehicle driven by Siena Romano, 17, of Wayne reportedly struck the back end of that car. Police said it caused the Carpentersville man's car to hit the 14-year-old, who was crossing the street. The boy was transported to Sherman Hospital in Elgin for precautionary measures and released, police said. Neither driver was injured, police said. Romano was cited with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
