Elgin


• Home invasion reported: Residents in the 100 block of Ann Street told police that two men forced their way into the home about 2:55 a.m. Sunday. During the incident, one intruder threw a beer bottle at one of the victims, causing a blooding nose and redness, police reported. The victims at some point locked themselves in another room, and the suspects left, police were told.


• BB damage: A resident in the 100 block of Mallery Avenue told police that three windows on her vehicle were broken with BB gun pellets about 2 a.m. Sunday.


• Assault charge: Derrick R. Smith, 35, of 503 Brook St., was charged with assault Saturday evening after residents in the 400 block of Porter Street reported that he had gone after them with a weapon, a police report stated. When police arrived, they found a knife with a 4-inch blade in Smith's pocket, the report stated.


• Disorderly conduct: Victor Camerena-Castro, 25, of 161 Cherry St., was charged him with disorderly conduct Saturday afternoon. Two women told police that while they were walking to Clocktower Plaza, Camerena-Castro followed them in his car from Chicago Street near Crystal Street and offered them money several times, according to a police report. Police did not indicate why money was allegedly offered to the women money.


• Purse, backpack missing: An Elgin woman told police her backpack and purse were taken from her car Friday evening while it was parked outside a laundromat at 10 State St. She said she noticed the items missing the following morning.
