Foster opening office
Rep. Bill Foster, the Fox Valley's new representative in Congress, will have a grand opening and open house Saturday at his new Batavia office. Residents of the 14th District are invited to attend the ribbon cutting and meet Foster at the office, in the same location as the district office of former Rep. Dennis Hastert. Illinois
State police step up patrol efforts
Illinois State Police District 15 officers will conduct S.T.E.P. (Special Traffic Enforcement Patrols) starting May 5 and continuing through June 1, in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake and Will counties. Troopers will concentrate on speeding, failure to use occupant restraints and alcohol-related offenses as part of their enforcement efforts. S.T.E.P. involves a combination of increased enforcement and public information designed to raise public awareness and compliance to all traffic laws. Call Sgt. Deck install/fix workshop
In keeping with the season, Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley's ReStore, at 800 N. State St. (Illinois 31), will offer a free workshop Saturday on "Decks: Choosing Materials, Design, Basic Components." The workshop, which begins at 10 a.m., will be taught by Rich Cowgill and Dawn Tuskey, co-hosts of the Your House Chicago radio show on AM 560 WIND.
