Radio tribute to troops Sunday

November 6, 2009

ELGIN - State Street Publishing, in cooperation with WRMN 1410 AM Radio, will present its annual "Tribute to the Troops" from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The five-hour radio marathon honors those who served and those still serving today.

Listeners are encouraged to share stories about a veteran they know and love, whether it is a father, grandfather, son or daughter.

"Tribute to the Troops" — hosted by George Rawlinson, Steve Thoren, Jeff Myers and Jim Durante — features interactive interviews and an ongoing celebration of American patriotism.

Scheduled guests include U.S. Rep. Bill Foster; Soldiers' Angels founder Patti Patton, who is the grandniece of General George S. Patton; and nationally known comedian Tom Dreesen, as well as veterans from World War II through Operation Enduring Freedom.

The annual program is broadcast in recognition of Veterans Day, which is Wednesday, Nov. 11.

The in-studio telephone number at WRMN is 847-931-1410.
