Man struck, killed by train in DeKalb County

November 5, 2009

A 21-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed by a freight train at 3 p.m. Wednesday about a quarter mile east of the Nelson Road crossing in DeKalb County.

Kevin C. Jablonsky of Lombard was pronounced dead on the scene after he apparently was struck by an eastbound Union Pacific train on the tracks at Nelson Road, south of Illinois Route 38, according to the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office.

The accident remains under investigation by the DeKalb County Sheriff's Office and the DeKalb County Coroner's Office. No foul play is suspected, the coroner's office said.
