County has injectable flu vaccine available

The DuPage County Health Department announced Wednesday it has received a shipment of the injectable H1N1 vaccine and is currently scheduling appointments for both the nasal mist and injectable vaccine.

Because of a limited supply and high demand of the H1N1 vaccine, the DCHD will be scheduling appointments for those in the following priority groups:

• Pregnant women

• People who live with or care for infants younger than 6 months of age

• Health care and emergency medical personnel

• Anyone from 6 months through 24 years of age

• Anyone from 25 through 64 years of age with certain chronic medical conditions or a weakened immune system

As reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention more and more vaccine is becoming available on a regular basis. There will be enough vaccine for all DuPage County residents who wish to become vaccinated.

Vaccination appointments can be made by calling 1-866-311-1123. Because of the high-call volume, callers may get a busy signal. If so, they should continue to call 1-866-311-1123 during off, or non-peak hours. The appointment line is taking calls around the clock.
