Police: Don't try this at home
3 robbed man at one suspect's home
CARPENTERSVILLE — Tip of the day: "If you're a criminal, and you're going to do a crime, don't do it at home."
That tip comes courtesy of Cmdr. Tim Bosshart after Carpentersville police arrested three men Wednesday for allegedly hauling a man out of his car and into the garage of a house at 2114 Tepee Ave. to rob him. One of the alleged robbers lives in that house.
Bosshart said the 31-year-old victim did not know his alleged attackers and police are unsure what he was doing at the house.
The men reportedly pulled him from his car at about 6:37 p.m. Wednesday, stole the stereo from the vehicle and demanded he pay them $200, according to police. They then apparently beat him and let him go before fleeing the scene.
The victim had superficial injuries and did not require medical attention, police said.
After an initial investigation, police returned to the house at about 11 p.m. and arrested 19-year-old Demitrius White, who lives there. Also arrested were Bryant L. Ferguson, 19, of 2715 Hopi Lane, and Phillip M.E. Hill, 18, of 14 Oxford Road.
Police said all three were charged Thursday with mob action, robbery, burglary and unlawful restraint. They are expected to appear at bond call today.
The investigation continues and further arrests are possible, according to police.
