Cops: Man threatened to get hitman to kill ex's beau

October 29, 2009

CARPENTERSVILLE — An Aurora man is accused of stalking his ex-wife and threatening to hire a hit on her new boyfriend, according to Carpentersville police.

Antonio Martinez, 40, of 126 Evans, Aurora, was arrested Wednesday on a Class 4 felony charge of stalking.

On at least two occasions between Sept. 23 and Tuesday, Martinez was seen by several people watching his ex-wife's house in the 100 block of Green Street in Carpentersville, police said.

"(Martinez) had made statements about wanting to hire a hitman to kill his ex-wife's current boyfriend," Carpentersville Police Cmdr. Tim Bosshart added.

Martinez also allegedly made statements to his ex-wife's son and others that, "if he saw a man leaving her house he would run his car into the new man's car," Bosshart said.

Martinez faces up to three years in prison plus fines if convicted on the felony charge. His bail was set at $50,000 and he is to appear in court on the charge at 9 a.m., Nov. 10.
