Woman arrested after child left in van

December 15, 2008

A 43-year-old St. Charles woman was arrested Monday after leaving a toddler alone inside a van parked in the lot of a west side store where she was shopping, police said.

Pamela J. Weberski, of 4N528 Campton Crossings Drive, was charged with endangering the life of a child. Police said she had left her 20-month-old child inside the vehicle for about 20 minutes early that afternoon while she shopped in the Target store, 300 S. Randall Road. The engine of the van was turned off and outside temperatures were hovering around 11 degrees at the time, according to police.

An off-duty Elgin Fire Department officer called police after noticing the child sitting in a car seat in the back seat of the vehicle. The child was checked by medical personnel and did not appear to be injured, according to reports.
