Re-election isn't on Neuberger's agenda

July 21, 2008

Rudy Neuberger, an Aurora Democrat, announced Friday he will not seek re-election to the Kane County Board in November.

Neuberger, who has been on the board since 1996, said he has withdrawn his name from the November ballot. He said he decided not to run again after taking an early retirement from his job at the Fox Metro Water Reclamation District.

Neuberger's district spans both sides of the Fox River, covering Montgomery and the south side of Aurora.

He said his most memorable accomplishments as a board member involved getting improvements to Montgomery Road, a new well-water system for the unincorporated area of Moecherville on Aurora's East Side and new sidewalks for Hall Elementary School in Aurora.

County Board Chairman Karen McConnaughay said Neuberger is known for his commitment to his constituents.

"Rudy ... has represented his constituents in a very conscientious manner with a true understanding of his community's needs. He is a shining example of a good public official," she said.
