Jamie Kennedy flips script on hecklers
Being heckled is an occupational hazard for stand-up comedians. And these days, "everyone is in the entertainment business," said Jamie Kennedy, who was on his way to record the voice of a frustrated young wizard for a new animated Nickelodeon offering, Fanboy. And because anyone with an Internet connection can become an instant critic, heckling occurs online as well as up close and personal, he said.

Noble Fool Theatricals will stage I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles through July 19. Artistic director John Gawlik said the show runs the relationship gamut. "It is all about from first dates to marriage and through old age and how men and women interact with each other," Gawlik said. "There are some wonderful pieces in there that are really heartfelt."

The Elgin Choral Union will blend the cheerful simplicity of Schubert, the joyfulness of Haydn and the romantic clarity of Beethoven into its "Magnificent Masses of Schubert and Haydn" concert. The show is at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Elgin Community College Visual and Performing Arts Center's Blizzard Theatre.

A roundup of expos, auditions, music, stage, comedy, and art exhibits.

Eddy Arnold, whose mellow baritone on songs like Make the World Go Away made him one of the most successful country singers in history, died Thursday morning, days short of his 90th birthday. Arnold died at a care facility near Nashville, said Don Cusic, a professor at Belmont University and author of the biography Eddy Arnold: I'll Hold You in My Heart. His wife of 66 years, Sally, had died in March, and in the same month, Arnold fell outside his home, injuring his hip.

If you are looking for mouth-watering steaks and seafood, a cozy, comfortable setting and a bit of history, stop in at Art & Alma's on Main Street in Burlington. Formerly known as Burlington House, the 100-year-old building has been renamed Art & Alma's Century Inn to commemorate its centennial anniversary.

The top fives in television, film and music.

While producer Rick Rubin coaxed some fine songs out of Neil Diamond on their first collaboration, 2005's 12 Songs, you could feel the fear of a singer told to stand alone with his guitar in front of a recording microphone for the first time in many years. With the new Home Before Dark, Diamond sounds much more comfortable. That's mostly good.

Trust Me isn't just the title of British artist Craig David's fourth studio album. The two-word combination might best serve as instructions for listening to the disc. The 26-year-old -- who made a splash in the United States with his 2001 platinum debut Born to Do It but then fell off the radar here -- exudes soul. His voice is sweet and sincere on the delicate, slow-moving track Awkward, with its earthy mix of guitar and organ.

The top three dishes at Art & Alma's Century Inn in Burlington.

The Led Zeppelin classic Whole Lotta Love throbs from the 1,200-watt sound system as the slick, silver-and-white roller coaster nears the top of its serpentine track. Lead singer Robert Plant shrieks, "Woman. You need. Loooooooove ..." As he does, riders scream as the car falls from a height of 155 feet, reaching speeds of 65 mph.
