Business Beat: Colonial Cafe offering pancakes for a penny

May 4, 2008

Colonial Cafe and Ice Cream at 600 S. McLean Blvd. will celebrate its 30th anniversary in Elgin by serving pancakes for 1 cent on Thursday from open until close. There is a limit of 30 pancakes per person.

"We wanted to do something spectacular to thank the Elgin community for 30 great years," said Steve Fialek, the restaurant's general manager. "The way the area has supported the restaurant over the years is really wonderful."

"Pancakes for a Penny" will be served with plenty of syrup and butter, and customers may order additional items and toppings at the regular price.
