E. Dundee church remodel earns kudos
The church architectural firm of David F. Schultz Associates Ltd. of Barrington was awarded the Excellence in Architecture Award by the Northeast Illinois Chapter of the American Institute of Architects recently.
The award was for the firm's design for the renovation, remodeling and addition to the historic Immanuel Lutheran Church in East Dundee. The firm was one of only four firms to receive awards from a field of 49 entries.
The firm has received 33 international, national and regional design awards and exhibits for their churches and has been published in seven books and more than 160 journals. The firm has been involved in more than 300 church projects in five states, including many local church projects.
The firm was founded by David F. Schultz of East Dundee in 1986, specializing in the design of churches and buildings for church-based ministries.
All local businesswomen are invited to attend the celebration, which will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19, at the Holiday Inn, Route 31 and I-90 in Elgin. Men also are invited.

Previous honors include being named best reception facility by Illinois Meetings and Events magazine and business of the year by the Northern Kane County chamber.
Wendy Cozzi is general manager of the hotel, at I-90 and Route 31. It features conference space, a fully equipped business center, valet and laundry service, a Bennigan's sports bar and restaurant, large indoor pool, whirlpool, arcade room and exercise/fitness center.
