Ron Ewing takes over helm of RE/MAX Horizon

Elgin's No. 1 real estate office has a new owner in Ron Ewing.

The leadership of RE/MAX Horizon has changed hands as former owner Dean Gillman steps down. Ewing and Gillman have been working on the deal for the past six months and will continue in their new roles as owner and broker, respectively, for at least the next year.

"I had always told (Gillman) if he ever wanted to sell, I would consider buying (the franchise)," Ewing said. "It will be a good transition."

Technology, training and recruitment will be the focus of broker/owner Ewing's first 100 days as the new owner of RE/MAX Horizon, located at 374 N. McLean Blvd. in Elgin. Ewing said his research led him to the RE/MAX franchise six years ago when he decided to leave the corporate world, where he worked as a technology manager for Arthur Andersen, behind him and pursue a new career in real estate.

Ewing started his career out strong, earning the designation of "Rising Star" in his first year of business. Ewing also is a member of the firm's "100% Club" for having more than $6 million in sales in one year. Ewing pursued advanced training in his field, earning his Graduate of Real Estate Institute (GRI) and E-PRO designations. Because of his commitment to training, Ewing will focus on helping to motivate his agents and provide the training they need to stay "at the top of their game."

"From a technology standpoint, there is a lot out there, and I can help them make sense of it," Ewing said. He also plans to recruit additional highly qualified agents to join the 30 professionals already in his office.

"As for recruiting, it is my mission to recruit the best and the brightest agents," he said.
