Lexington: One of South Elgin's first developments

July 13, 2008

"Once they move in, they don't like to leave," says South Elgin's favorite Realtor, Judy LoBianco Nelson, about the neighborhood of Lexington.

It is a community comprised mainly of ranch-style homes with a few bi-level and tri-level homes in the development as well.

Nelson said home prices range between $220,000 and $250,000, and are primarily three- or four-bedroom models. Basements are common in these homes, which were constructed between 1964 and 1970.

The community has a mixed demographic of middle-age residents with grown families and newer homeowners or first-time buyers. It is within walking distance of Concord Park, one of South Elgin's largest recreation areas.

Nelson said the homes in the neighborhood are well-maintained and that there is a very low turnover of homes there.

"People tend to move in and stay," she said.

Currently, the homes are served by a neighborhood grade school, Willard, along with the recently built Kenyon Woods Middle School and South Elgin High School.
