July 11, 2008

A choice selection of one-bedroom-plus-den, two- and three-bedroom units and elegant penthouses are still available at the Chandler, the fourth and latest completed condominium tower at Lakeshore East.

Leila Zammatta, senior vice president of sales for the award-winning community rising on the New East Side, reports that several new condo units are available at the Aqua tower and two at 340 on the Park. Preconstruction sales are also under way for the first phase of Parkhomes, an enclave of 25 town houses bordering the community's park.

The 35-story Chandler at 450 E. Waterside Drive on the northeast corner of the 28-acre community adds 300 residences and some 10,000 square feet of retail space to the blossoming village. Remaining units are priced from $499,000.

River, lake and city skyline views will complement convenient walk-to access to the Magnificent Mile, central business district, Millennium Park and lakefront.

Designed by DeStefano + Partners, the Chandler also features Lakeshore East's resortlike amenity, the Shore Club, which includes a fitness facility with an indoor rooftop pool, two landscaped rooftop decks, a private party room and a media room.

Concierge services are also provided.

Owners at the Chandler share with other Lakeshore East residents the community's magnificent, multiple-award-winning six-acre park with its free wireless Internet access, children's play park, gated dog park, large open meadow, exquisite water fountains, ornamental gardens and extensive seating.

An assortment of shops and convenient services will occupy 10,000 square feet of commercial space on the lobby level of the Chandler.

Lakeshore East is widely regarded Chicago's most successful new residential community. The 28-acre village in the heart of downtown Chicago is believed to be the largest parcel of downtown land under development in a major U.S. city.

Inspired by traditional urban communities, Lakeshore East intertwines new condominiums, apartment homes, town houses, shops and recreation. The Lakeshore East master plan captured the 2008 Prix d'Excellence International Design Award from the International Real Estate Federation and previously won a National Honor Award for excellence in urban design from the American Institute of Architects.

Lakeshore East is looked upon as a preview of the future - a community where people can live, work, shop, eat and pursue whatever interests them without getting into a car.

The master plan that completes the ambitious Illinois Center development allows for the construction of up to 4,950 residences, the public park, 2.2 million gross square feet of commercial space, 1,500 hotel rooms, 770,000 square feet of retail space and a planned elementary school.

Residential developments at Lakeshore East currently include six completed and occupied buildings. They include the 29-story Lancaster, the community's first condominium building with 209 homes; the Shoreham, a 46-story apartment tower with 548 residences; the Regatta, a 44-story condominium building with 325 units; the Chandler; 340 on the Park and the 51-story Tides, the community's second rental property with 607 luxury units now being leased.

Construction is progressing on the 82-story Aqua, which will be the first high-rise in the city designed to combine condominiums, rental apartments, hotel and retail spaces.
