Atwater residents enjoy spectacular lake views, vacation lifestyle

July 4, 2008

Now that New England Builders has completed the 4-story Atwater at Gaslight Pointe in Racine, Wis., a 40-unit condominium building, visitors can discover spectacular Lake Michigan views from every side of the building. With driving time only one hour from Chicago, Illinoisans have chosen The Atwater as their vacation getaway. One- and two-bedroom condos are priced from $190,900 to $444,900.

Currently, more than 60 percent have been sold. Since, The Atwater is close to suburban Chicago, many Illinoisans and local Racine and Kenosha residents have made The Atwater their vacation retreat or permanent residence. Anyone who purchases a condo now will certainly be ready for next summer's boating season.

Michelle Musillami has been boating in the Racine area for years, so she was excited when The Atwater opened. She chose a one-bedroom, first-floor unit with lots of windows. Greatly influencing her buying decision were the spectacular views. From her patio, she can look west and see the Root River, the scenic bridge and historic clock tower.

Looking north she has views of the Windpoint Lighthouse, the North Beach and the Racine Yacht Club. In addition, Michelle is walking distance to Festival Park and can hop a trolley to get around town.

"I think I made a great investment," she said. "Where else can you be minutes from Chicago and Milwaukee, live on the water, and be close to the marina."

The Atwater at Gaslight Pointe is located on the triangular peninsula formed by the confluence of Lake Michigan and the Root River. This desirable location assures residents picturesque views of the Reefpoint Marina and Lake Michigan in Racine.

New England Builders and Wispark LLC have partnered in this $13-million-dollar joint venture to redevelop the final harbor front property in downtown Racine's Gaslight Pointe.

"Great views and affordable pricing have helped us reach our 60-percent sales plateau," said Chris Rintz, Executive Vice President of New England Builders.

"After a successful sellout of HarborPark in Kenosha, we have embarked on our second waterfront resort-like community with Lake Michigan views," said Rintz.

"Our innovative condominiums reflect Racine's historic waterfront landmarks with its New England shingle-style architecture. The building is crowned with an architectural-shingled roof and has cedar shake siding and a beautiful stone water table ... all natural materials selected to blend seamlessly into the neighborhood," he added.

The Atwater at Gaslight Pointe offers something for everyone. Each floor plan is unique with 757 to 2,213 square feet of living space. Homeowners have a variety of choices, from one-bedroom 1½ baths, to two- bedrooms, 2½ baths plus a den. Elegant homes feature spacious balconies or expansive paver terraces, heated underground parking and storage, and secured lobby entry in a state-of-the-art elevator building.

The first through third floors have eleven units, while the penthouse fourth-floor features seven residences with 1,243 to 2,060 square feet of luxurious space.

They offer spectacular wraparound views of the Root River and Lake Michigan and the historic former coast guard station.

Luxury amenities include 9-foot ceilings, porcelain or wood floors in foyer and kitchen, maple, oak or white cabinets, Corian counters, Frigidaire stainless steel appliances, solid core six-panel doors, soaker tubs or walk-in showers in master bath with porcelain tile surrounds, Weathershield Proshield vinyl clad wood windows with low E glass, individual high-efficiency gas, forced air furnace and central air.

A recreation area will be built on the rooftop of the parking garage and may be reserved for special functions. Residents are within walking distance to Racine's restored downtown district featuring a multitude of entertainment and shopping venues.

Summer months in downtown Racine offer vacationers an abundance of outdoor activities. From free concerts at Monument Square to the Art Fair on the Lake, to fishing tournaments, the Racine Symphony Pops Concert, Gallery Night, the Boat Show and Yacht Club Hook Race, there's never a dull moment in the downtown district.

Special events and parties galore continue in the fall with a public art event, Wind Point Lighthouse tours to the top, a soap box derby race, Great Lakes Brewfest, Apple Picking & Scarecrow Festival and the Racine Festival of Trees. The fun never stops even during the cold winter months with Holiday Parades, Tree Lighting Ceremonies and Symphony Concerts. Downtown Racine is definitely a city for all seasons.
