On Saturday the Bolingbrook Youth Baseball League (Pony affiliated) will be hosting a 13U tryout for its new travel team.

It starts at 8:30 a.m. at Indian Boundary Park on field five and will end at 11 a.m.

Kids who turn 13 years of age between April 30, 2009, and April 30 2010 are eligible to play for this team. A birth certificate must be brought to the tryout by all participants.

Tennis places third

At the Lemont Invitational, the Bolingbrook girls tennis team finished third out of eight teams.

Sherrie Phipps and Ryann Woodfill finished fourth, Nneka Onyejiaka finished fifth, Morgan Woodfill finished second, and Emily Shaedel and Celina Onyejiaka finished third.

A first in soccer

Bolingbrook lost 2-0 at home to West Aurora on Oct. 3, lost 1-0 against Lincoln-Way East on Oct. 1 and defeated Lincoln-Way Central 1-0 on Sept. 29 thanks to Abraham Sanchez's goal.

The victory was the first win against Lincoln-Way Central since the switch to SWSC from SICA. It was a tough game and each team had chances to put the ball away.
