Village examines tax revenue

October 30, 2009

Even though tax receipts have generally been declining in Bolingbrook as they have just about everywhere during the recession, there has been an increase in one area.

Motor fuel tax funds coming into the village increased in August 2009 compared to August 2008, the Village Board learned at its meeting this week. The $143,560 received in August was up by 14.1 percent from the total last year.

State income tax receipts for Bolingbrook declined in July compared to a year earlier. The $358,579 in revenue was down by 8.9 percent.

Sales tax revenue of $1,842,915 collected in August was down by 9.4 percent compared to August 2008.

Also at the meeting, Mayor Roger Claar announced a change in the schedule of Village Board meetings during the month of November.

The usual meetings on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month will be replaced by a single meeting Nov. 17.
