Students to express views on school security

October 30, 2009

Students from both Valley View School District 365U high schools and from a middle school will discuss their perceptions of school safety when the November edition of the cable television show "Bridging the Gap" is taped on Nov. 12.

Hosted by Leroy Brown, Valley View's school safety and security coordinator, "Bridging the Gap" explores issues of importance to the community each month.

Brown's guests on Nov. 12 will be students from Bolingbrook and Romeoville high schools as well as Brooks Middle School in Bolingbrook.

The students will openly discuss how safe they feel in school and their attitudes toward the current school atmosphere in general. They also will give the experts some advice on what can be done to help them learn how to make better decisions.

The taping of the show, which will begin at 7 p.m. in the Bolingbrook Village Board room, is open to the public. Questions will be taken from the floor.

The show will be shown on Bolingbrook's cable access channel.
