JackHammers to host free Halloween event

JOLIET -- The JackHammers Hoe-Down Halloween will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday at Silver Cross Field.

Events include:

6-7:30 p.m.: Trick-or-treating

6-7 p.m: Scavenger hunt

6-9 p.m.: Pumpkin coloring

7 p.m.: Movie starts on big screen

7:30 p.m.: Games and crafts

8 p.m.: Precarved pumpkin contest, costume contest.

Trail dogs, sasparillas, cold suds and hot cocoa will be available for purchase.

Veterans sought for school presentation
PLAINFIELD -- Indian Trail Middle School is seeking local veterans to attend and be honored at the school's veterans recognition assembly Nov. 13.

The assembly will begin at 8:30 a.m. at the school, 14723 S. Eastern Ave. Veterans are asked to be at the school by 8:15 a.m.

Veterans will take part in the assembly, enjoy a pancake breakfast then visit classrooms to share their experiences.
