STNG NEWS ALERTS ::
Dan Fugman from Bolingbrook competes in a hot dog eating contest June 28 at the Bolingbrook Village Picnic.

It's a summertime ritual: the backyard barbecue. Bolingbrook does it big each summer, inviting everyone in the village to its own backyard -- behind Village Hall. At the 25th annual Village Picnic June 28, the village grilled hot dogs, music and dance groups took the stage, community organizations ran games, and the neighbors got into plenty of friendly competitions.

Joliet dance company does 'Thriller' tribute
The annual dance recital for the Generation Dance Co. in Joliet was bittersweet for owner and director Roxiana Fuqua. What started as a celebration of the dance company's 10th anniversary became a tribute to one of the greatest entertainers of all time just days after his death.
