The lure of Christmas

Bolingbrook store to kick off early start to holiday season

November 6, 2009

Halloween is still a vivid memory, but that doesn't mean its not time to start thinking about Christmas.

Bass Pro Shops at The Promenade shopping center in Bolingbrook will kick off its Christmas season with a special Preview Night from 3 to 8 p.m. Nov. 8.

Local children's groups and carolers will be singing in front of the store and customers will be treated to hot chocolate and cookies.

Santa will arrive by truck at 3 p.m. Kids will be invited to help Santa light a big Christmas tree in the main entrance. There will then be the unveiling of Santa's Wonderland inside the store.

Children can color their own stocking at the activity tables.

The store's "Santa's Wonderland -- A Classic Christmas" event will continue through Dec. 24 at the store, 709 Janes Ave. "Santa's Wonderland" features a 3,500-square-foot village filled with games, activities and crafts.

Santa will be in residence there throughout the season as well.

Every weekend from noon to 5 p.m. beginning Nov. 14, children can make crafts and holiday ornaments at the village.
