Rosary's Schalz hurls second straight perfect game

Rosary pitcher Kylie Schalz threw here second straight perfect game as the Royals set down St. Francis, 8-0, in a Suburban Catholic conference softball game Wednesday. Schalz (3-2) struck out nine and also contributed two hits and two RBIs at the plate, while Colleen Van Bogaert homered and had three RBIs, Andi DeKing added two RBIs and Brenda Rocha banged out two hits.

Plainfield North 17, Plano 4 -- Lauren Konop had three hits, including a homer, and two RBIs for the Reapers, while Karlie Thorson also homered.

South Elgin 5, Waubonsie Valley 2 -- Becky Horton had two hits and drove in a run for Waubonsie Valley.

Walther Lutheran 11, Aurora Christian 10 -- Megan Cryder paced ACHS with two hits and three runs scored while Shannah Morris scored two runs.

Boys baseball

Marmion Academy 16, St. Francis 15 -- The Cadets looked primed to pick up an easy win after piling up a 15-0 lead after two innings, but St. Francis rallied all the way back before Marmion plated the game-winner in the bottom of the seventh. Matt Milroy had three hits, including a home run, scored three times and drove in four runs, while Tim Milroy also homered and added three RBIs.

Putnam County 13, Plano 10 -- Dan Peruski paced the Reapers with three doubles and four RBIs, while David Vargas homered and Mike Kerr added two hits and two RBIs.

Yorkville 9, DeKalb 7 -- Kyle Kraber had a homer and three RBIs for DeKalb, Max Carey added two hits and knocked in two runs while Josh Michaelson added two hits.

Streamwood 6, Waubonsie Valley 5 -- Waubonsie was led by Chris Galovic's two hits and an RBI, while Adam LeRoy went 2-for-4.

Walther Lutheran 10, Aurora Christian 9 -- Tony Romero led the way for ACHS with two hits.

West Aurora 8, Glenbard East 7 -- West was led by D.J. Smith, who had a grand slam, Cory Walden, who had three hits, including a homer, and two RBIs, and two hits and an RBI apiece from Chris Richter and Kyle McCradic.

Girls soccer

Oswego 3, Plainfield North 1 -- Kaitlin Straits, Joey Green and Lisa Bajkowski had the goals for Oswego.

Boys track

Reed-Custer Outdoor -- Sandwich scored 118 points to win the meet, with Plano scoring 27 to place fifth. Josh Artman cleared 5-10 to win the high jump for Sandwich, while Micah Duvick won the triple jump (37-2) and 110 high hurdles (17.59), Aaron Stahl had wins in the 1,600 (5:10.8) and 3,200 (11:28.8), Jaelen McWilliams won the 100 (12.44), Shawn Carpenter placed first in the 400 (54.97) with the Indians also winning the 400 relay (47.17) and 1600 relay (3:43.0).

Seneca Meet -- Aurora Christian placed fifth out of seven teams. Dylan Melody placed first in the 400 for ACHS (52.64) and Brandon Oest won the high jump (5-10).

Girls track

Reed Custer 80, Sandwich 68, Herscher 63, Plano 63 -- Libby Ellerby won the 400 for Sandwich in 1:06.16, while Justine Moore placed first in the 100 (14.23) and Dani Pearson won the 200 (29.91).

Seneca Meet -- Aurora Christian scored 66 points to finish third out of seven teams. Anna Morgan won the 800 for the Eagles in 2:38.28, Deanna Jimenez placed first in the 1600 (6:18.23), the 3200 relay (Morgan, Jimenez, Chelsea Cooper, Amy Berger) and 1600 relay (Morgan, Cooper Jimenez and Sage Millard) in 4:30.63.
