Somonauk girls advance to sectional

PERU -- The Somonauk girls golf team qualified for sectionals by placing second at the Class A Peru St. Bede Regional on Wednesday. The Bobcats finished with a team score of 425. Alleman won the regional with a 390.

Somonauk's Jessica Schultz shot 85 to place second individually. Teammate Amy Swanson came in fifth with a 103.

Plano also competed at the regional, finishing seventh with a score of 571.

Somonauk will compete at the Byron Sectional on Monday.

Class 1A
Rock Falls Regional -- Hinckley-Big Rock's Megan Gregg shot a 93 to qualify for sectionals individually. The Royals placed fourth as a team with a score of 478. Indian Creek placed sixth at 538.
Class 2A
Belvidere Regional -- Kaneland's Hayley Guyton won medalist honors by shooting a 78. She finished seven strokes ahead of the competition.

St. Francis Regional -- Geneva finished fourth in the team standings with a score of 389. Three Vikings golfers advanced individually, led by Shannon Delaney who shot an 82. Mel Schlenker and Emily Comperda both shot 95s.

Lockport Regional -- Yorkville's Katie Anderson shot 102 and advanced to the sectional.
