Batavia wins postponed Kane County meet

Batavia scored 106 points to win the girls' team title at the Kane County Track and Field Meet. West Aurora was second with 91.5 points, Geneva third (91 points), Kaneland fifth (62), Rosary 7th (43) and Aurora Christian 10th (one point).

Natalie Tarter won the 100 and 300 hurdles in a time of 14.3 and 44.9 seconds, respectively, and also won the 100 (12.1). Alexis Simpson won the 800 for the Bulldogs in 2:19, Melissa Norville won the triple jump (34-7) and the Bulldogs also won the 1600 relay in 4:02.08.

Geneva won the 3200 relay (10:07.8), Kat Yelle the 400 (1:01.3) and Allie Pace finished first in the pole vault (11-0) for the Vikings.

West Aurora won two relays, the 400 (51.2) and 800 (1:48.8), with Shanice Andrews winning the long jump (17-4) and Jasmine Ranson the high jump (5-2). Lindsay Gierke won the 200 in a time of 25.8 for Kaneland.

Boys track
Red Ribbon Classic -- Host Waubonsie Valley won the team title over Wheaton Warrenville South (88) with 131 points. Matt Einbecker set a meet record in the discus with a throw of 177-3 for Waubonsie, while also winning the shot put (54-7). Emmett Lorenz placed first in the 800 in 1:59.22, Sean Wiggin won the 400 (51.30), Randy Magnuson the long jump (21-0) and the Warriors also won the 1600 relay (3:28.31).
Girls softball
Indian Creek 2-10, Plano 1-5 -- Devon White had a two-run homer for Indian Creek in the opener, while Jenna Holms struck out 11 and tossed a three-hitter. Lauren Konop had a homer for Plano in the nightcap, while Morgan Sibley had two hits.

St. Charles Tournament -- West Aurora went 2-1 on the day. Stephanie Becker pitched 13 scoreless innings and had 20 strikeouts on the day, while Devin Vaughn had four hits.

Kaneland 12-16, Oswego East 2-4 -- Maggie Yagen had a grand slam in the opener as Kaneland picked up the sweep.

Neuqua Valley 9-12, Rosary 0-3 -- Coleen Van Bogaert had a three-run homer for the Royals in the nightcap.

Chicago Christian 7-5, Aurora Christian 2-0 -- Shannah Morris had an RBI and then scored the other run for ACHS in game one.

Boys baseball
Yorkville 6-1, Sandwich 5-5 -- Justin Aliosio, Nathan Messenger and Chris Grandchamp all had two RBIs in the opener. Messenger also homered. John Hutchison led Sandwich with two RBIs. Ryan Keist struck out nine and didn't allow an earned run for Sandwich in the nightcap.

Oswego 4, Ottawa 3 -- Ryan Prinzing had three hits and an RBI for Oswego, while Tyler Brooks had two doubles.

Plano 16-23, Indian Creek 6-12 -- Mike Kerr led Plano in game one with two homers and three RBIs, Kevin Day homered, Dan Peruski had four hits and an RBI, Brian Green drove in four runs and David Vargas three. Chris Martinez homered and had five RBIs in game two, while Day had three hits and drove in five runs, Kerr had three RBIs and Johnny Simmons two.

Wheaton Warrenville South 7-19, West Aurora 3-18 -- Chris Richter paced West in game two with a homer and six RBIs, Kyle McCradic had a homer and drove in three runs, Jeff Etter added four hits and three RBIs, Nate Strusz had a homer and two RBIs while Tony Gaffino had three hits and two RBIs.

Aurora Christian 15-16, Chicago Christian 9-2 -- Eric Anderson homered and had three RBIs for ACHS in the opener, while Mike Friend and David Zilke each homered and drove in three runs. Zilke also had three hits, including a three-run homer, in the nightcap.

Girls badminton
Upstate Eight Meet -- East Aurora finished with 155.5 points to place third while Waubonsie Valley was in fourth with 98.5 points. Neuqua Valley was the conference champion with 190 points. Cassie Taylor finished in fifth place in fifth singles for East, while the doubles teams of Janely Villa/Melissa Valenzuela and Juanita Galvan/Magalay Avila won first and second doubles, respectively.
Girls soccer
Kaneland 6, Mendota 1 -- Bridget Crosby had two goals for Kaneland.
College baseball
Waubonsee 7-11, Lindenwood JV 3-12 -- Ryne Rende had four RBIs in game two for Waubonsie, while Adam Marcley had an RBI and Jordan Kohler had two hits and scored four runs. Rende tossed a five-hitter in the opener, while Kohler had three hits and two RBIs and Nick Golich two hits and an RBI.
