Rosary's Schalz throws perfecto

Kylie Schalz pitched a perfect game and hit a two-run homer to lead the Rosary softball team to a 3-0 win over Montini on Monday. Schalz struck out 13 of the 21 batters she faced.

Her home run came as part of the Royals' three-run rally in the third inning.

Lauren Contorno went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Rosary (3-5, 2-0), and Audra Masters finished 2-for-3.

West Aurora 2, West Chicago 0 -- Even though it did not manage a hit, West Aurora (10-0) stayed unbeaten on the season.

Stephanie Becker scattered five hits over seven innings while striking out 11 batters. She was helped out in the 4th inning when Madison Whitt took away a home run by catching a ball over the center field fence.

Morris 12, Oswego 2 -- Morris used a six-run fifth inning to put the game away. Stephanie Griffin knocked in the two runs for the Panthers (1-8, 0-4). Jillian Mullen finished 2-for-3.

Somonauk 13, LaMoille 3 -- Alexa Smith got the pitching win, striking out 11, and went 3-for-4 with three RBIs. Kristine Trost went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two stolen bases and Taylor Seigler was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Batavia 13, Yorkville 3 -- Kelsey Phalen went 3-for-5 with a double, a triple and three RBIs for the Bulldogs.

Kelly Coleman drove in three runs for Batavia (3-6, 1-0), and Katie Luetkens knocked in two. Brianna Conway went 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for the Foxes (6-4).

IMSA 11, Aurora Christian 7 -- Megan Cryder went 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored for the Eagles (0-4). Shannah Morris had a double and an RBI.

Girls Soccer

Oswego 1, West Aurora 0 --The Panthers (5-6-1) scored the lone goal off a corner kick in the second half.

Noelle King scored, assisted by Lisa Bajkowski. Meredith Garren made 11 saves for Oswego.

Hinckley-Big Rock 1, Mendota 0 -- Kelly LeHew scored the lone goal, assisted by Jen Bish. Jessica Leifheit made 15 saves for the Royals (4-0-1).

IMSA 3, Streamwood 2 --Judy Hooymans, Chelsea Fu and Rae Rokosh scored goals as IMSA erased a 2-0 deficit.

Baseball

Hinckley-Big Rock 4, Earlville 3 -- Nolan Craig (3-0) pitched a complete game striking out seven and walking none to earn the pitching win for Hinckley-Big Rock (4-3 overall, 4-1 Little 10).

Jack Peters had a double, scored a run and had an RBI and Ryan Michaels had a hit and an RBI.

Plano 11, Sandwich 6 -- David Vargas had three hits, including a triple and an RBI while Kevin Day had two hits and four RBIs to lead Plano. Randy Niles (3-3) earned the pitching win.

Matt Cervantes and Jon Aubry got two hits each for Sandwich.

Somonauk 16, LaMoille 0 -- John Shawi (1-0) got the win for Somonauk (9-3 overall, 4-1 in Little 10). Shayne Peterson was 3-for-3 with three stolen bases and four runs scored, while Steve Weismiller was 3-for-3 with two doubles and three RBIs. Josh Shaw was 2-for-2 with two RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs.

Montini 6, Marmion 2 -- The teams traded runs in the first inning, but Montini added additional pairs in the third and sixth innings. Brian Burns (0-2) suffered the pitching loss for Marmion.

West Aurora 3, Glenbard East 2 -- D.J. Smith went 3-for-3 with a double, and Chris Richter had a double and two RBIs for the Blackhawks (7-5, 1-3).

Will Fuentes pitched a complete game to improve to 3-0.

Wheaton St. Francis 3, Aurora Central Catholic 2 -- Pitcher Nick Czaja struck out 11, but the Chargers (8-3, 1-2) could not get the key hit against St. Francis.

Girls Track

Rosary won a quadrangular meet with 135 points, besting St. Francis (42), Wheaton Academy (25) and Immaculate Conception (2).

First-place finishers for Rosary included Nora Bowe in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, Anna Deufel in the 100 and 400, Ali Rindone in the 200, Monica English in the shot put and discus, Amy Kus in the high jump and Katie Petrando in the long jump.

Rosary also won three of the four relay events.

Boys Tennis

Marmion 6, East Aurora 1 -- Tom Wilder go the win at No. 1 singels for Marmion and the team of John Mason and Mike Duefel got the win at No. 1 doubles. Jaime Garcia got East Aurora's lone win, at No. 3 singles.

Oswego 6, West Chicago 1 -- Francesco Venafro got a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles for Oswego, and the team of Dan Pitts and Matt Smith got the win at No. 1 doubles.

Badminton

Oswego 12, Streamwood 3 -- Crystil Garrett got the win at No. 2 singles for Oswego, while their No. 1 doubles team of Garrett and Jessika Bajorski got a win.

College Softball

Aurora 12-11, Alverno 0-0 -- Dana Cebular went 3-for-3 with a double and three runs scored in the opener. In the nightcap, Nikki Veen went 3-for-3 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored.

College Baseball

Aurora 13-3, Concordia 3-7 -- The Spartans won the opener behind good hitting from Matt Anklam (3-for-3, double, two RBIs) and Martin Diaz (3-for-5, two doubles, 3 RBIs).
