Breakdown: ACC football 2009
Conference: Suburban Christian Blue
2008 record: 0-9
Post season advancement: N/A
Returning starters: Andrew Scott (LB), Tyler Scott (LB/OL), John Belovich (OL-DL), Mike Ryan (OL/LB), Mario Alanis (OL/DL), Alex Schaefer (RB/DB), Ryan Riechardt (RB/DB), Joe Bonifas (WR/DB), Kent Brauweiler (TE/DL)
Key newcomers: Stewart DeWaard (QB) Zach Tobin (RB/DB), Adam Blake (OL/DL)
What to watch for: DeWard is replacing Mike Adams under center and will be the focal point of an unproven offense. A lot of pressure will be on his shoulders to either move the ball with his feet or make his receivers better.
Coach says: "We have decent numbers, decent size up front. Not much speed, but we do have experience at certain positions. We are more experienced on the defensive side of the ball. We have eight starters back on defense. Offensively, we have no skill players, but we do have some size up front. We have six starters back on offense."
Key games: The Chargers are looking to break a 10-game losing streak, so every game is key to get the ship righted. That's why the Week 2 contest against Marengo is big, as the Indians are coming off a 1-8 season of their own last year. And of course, Week 6 is the annual rivalry game against Marmion Academy, which is always a big contest for ACC.
