Driver faces DUI charges after hit-and-run, rollover

Abel Calderon, 24, 500 block of Lake Street, Aurora, was charged with two counts of felony drunken driving after being involved in two accidents, the Kane County state's attorney's office said.

Calderon was first involved in a hit-and-run accident near Indian Trail and Aurora Avenue, in Aurora, around 11:30 p.m., Aurora police said. Calderon's car hit a vehicle twice from behind and then took off at a high speed, ignoring red lights, Aurora police said.

A few minutes later, North Aurora police were called to a rollover accident with injuries involving a vehicle with a description matching Calderon's.

Obstructing

Hugo Recendez, 32, 500 block of East Galena Boulevard, Aurora, was charged with felony obstructing justice Sunday. He is accused of providing police officers with a false name, the Kane County state's attorney's office said.


• Richard Corral, 20, 1000 block of Newcastle Lane, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving, illegal transportation of alcohol and improper lane usage near Sullivan Road and Elder Drive, Aurora police said Monday.


• Two electronic current conductors, worth $11,990, were taken between Oct. 16 and Oct. 22 from a medical institution in the 1600 block of Montgomery Road, Aurora police said.


• A snowplow, worth $4,000, was stolen between 4 p.m. Friday and 7:20 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Woodlawn Avenue, Aurora police said.


• Someone smashed the rear windshield of a vehicle, causing $2,500 damage, between 2 a.m. and 8:20 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of Mountain Street, Aurora police said.


• A motorized mini-bike, GPS unit and CD player were taken between 7 p.m. Friday and 10:45 a.m. Saturday in the 1500 block of Hollycrest Avenue, Aurora police said. A television was also damaged. Loss was set at $3,010.


• A red Ford F150, worth $8,000, was stolen between 10:30 p.m. Sunday and 4:45 a.m. Monday on the 600 block of Sheridan Street, Aurora police said. The victim had left the keys in the ignition and the vehicle unlocked, police said.

Batavia

Fire on Raddant Road

Three employees were treated for inhalation issues and released after a fire broke out at a power packaging plant on the 1200 block of North Raddant Road, Batavia, around 8:23 a.m. Monday, the Batavia fire department said. Numerous areas of smoldering embers were found throughout a ventilation system of a machine, fire officials said. Firefighters dismantled the machine and extinguished the embers. Damage was estimated at $20,000.

LaSalle County

Bristol woman stopped

Jessica Galambos, 32, 0-99 block of Willow Lane, Bristol, was charged with drunken driving, illegal transportation of alcohol and failure to reduce speed after a crash near North 42nd Street and East 2603rd Street, at 8:28 p.m. Sunday, the LaSalle County sheriff's office said.
