Aurora man charged with sex assault of child

A 20-year-old Aurora man has been charged with felony predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse related to incidents dating back to 2006, according to the Kane County state's attorney's office.

Alexander Thomas, of the 600 block of North Harrison Avenue, Aurora, is being held in Kane County jail on $500,000 bail, with a Nov. 5 court date scheduled.

Prosecutors said Thomas had sex with a girl under the age of 13 between July 2006 through Monday. He is also accused of improperly touching the girl. The case was investigated by Aurora police and the Kane County Child Advocacy Center.

Kicked two officers

Ontrayl Stewart, 32, of the 1000 block of Golden Oaks Parkway, Aurora, was charged with felony aggravated battery and resisting a peace officer after an incident Sunday, the Kane County state's attorney's office said. Stewart kicked one Aurora police officer in the head and a second one in the hand, causing injuries to both, prosecutors said.


• Yesenia Cortes, 19, of the 1200 block of Sundown Drive, Aurora, was charged with felony forgery and obstructing justice after she signed a traffic ticket using another woman's name on Monday, prosecutors said.


• Jamie Alvarez-Cuevas, 18, of the 700 block of East New York Street, Aurora, was charged Sunday with felony aggravated domestic battery, aggravated battery as well as misdemeanor domestic battery, unlawful restraint and interference with the reporting of domestic violence related to three September incidents in Aurora, prosecutors said.


• Benjamin Schmidt, 28, of the 1000 block of Terrace Lake Drive, Aurora, was charged with drunken driving and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident after his 1999 Mercury Cougar struck a tree near Eola Road and Oakhurst Drive just after 1:15 a.m. Monday, Aurora police said. Schmidt was not injured.


• Oscar Alexander, 28, of Harvey, was charged with felony aggravated battery, criminal trespass to a residence and criminal damage to property after his arrest in Aurora on Sunday, the Kane County state's attorney's office said. Alexander entered a residence in the 400 block of Palace Street and caused more than $300 in damage, while also hitting an Aurora police officer in the head, prosecutors said.


• Angel Reyna, 19, of the 400 block of North View Street, Aurora, was charged with felony aggravated unlawful use of a weapon after he was found in a vehicle in Aurora on Monday with a .22-caliber gun, the Kane County state's attorney's office said. He also was charged with marijuana possession, prosecutors said.


• Alphonso Bedford, 24, of the 3000 block of Longwood Lane, Aurora, was charged with felony unlawful restraint, criminal damage to property and battery after his arrest Sunday during an incident in the 300 block of Cedar Street, the Kane County state's attorney's office said.


• Javier Vargas, 26, of the 100 block of Grace Street, Aurora, was charged with felony aggravated drunken driving and possession of a controlled substance after his arrest Monday, the Kane County state's attorney's office said.
