Parolee charged in stabbing, beating

Less than three months after he was released from prison, a 28-year-old Oswego resident has been charged with stabbing a man and beating a woman.

Robert Gale, of the 0-99 block of Sherwick Road, was charged with felony armed violence and aggravated battery as well as misdemeanor domestic battery in the incident in Oswego, police said.

On Aug. 7, Gale was released from a prison in Centralia, Ill., after serving a 2-year sentence for forgery.

He was still on parole Wednesday morning when a fight broke out in his house.

According to police, at 8:12 a.m. Wednesday Gale attacked a female family member in the bedroom of his home. He then fought with the 60-year-old owner of the Sherwick Road house, repeatedly hitting him, police said. Gale then attacked the man with a knife, cutting his head and chest, police said.

Both the male and female victims -- who were not identified by police -- were taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center. The woman was treated and released; the man's condition was not known.

A Kendall County judge set Gale's bail at $100,000, police said. The armed violence charge is a Class X felony.

Gale also served a previous 3-year prison sentence for a 2004 robbery.
