No challengers for Kendall's top spots

It will be no contest for the incumbent sheriff, clerk and treasurer in Kendall County, but a pitched battle over five seats on the County Board.

The Kendall County clerk's office released the names of those who filed for next year's elections Tuesday afternoon. Sheriff Richard Randall, Clerk Debbie Gillette and Treasurer Jill Ferko, all Republicans, will all run for re-election unopposed next November, with no one filing to challenge them in February's primary election.

Randall is serving his sixth term and Ferko her second. Gillette won an election last year to fill out the remainder of former Clerk Paul Anderson's term.

However, 18 candidates filed for County Board seats in two districts, including 10 Republicans, seven Democrats and one member of the Green Party. All five incumbents -- Nancy Martin and John Purcell in District 1, and Jessie Hafenrichter, Pam Parr and Anne Vickery in District 2 -- filed for re-election. All five are Republicans.

Two other Republicans and three Democrats filed in District 1, and three other Republicans and four Democrats in District 2. Green Party candidate Terry Sampson filed in District 1 as well.
