Cops: Video shows molestation at party

November 6, 2009

Elburn police say a video camera dropped during an underage drinking party revealed evidence of a man molesting an unconscious woman.

At 2:20 a.m. Oct. 30, officers were called to the 200 block of Conley Drive for reports of underage drinking and a fight. When officers arrived, they found that the fight had already ended. However, they discovered evidence of underage drinking and sexual abuse.

According to police, Christopher Runde, 24, of the 500 block of Maple Avenue, Elburn, placed his hand inside the underwear of a woman who had passed out and was unaware what was happening to her. Runde used a video camera to record touching the woman, police said.

Other people at the party confronted Runde, and a fight broke out, police said. Runde dropped his camera during the fight and other people grabbed it, police said. The video was turned over to Elburn police.

This week, Runde was charged with criminal sexual abuse, police said. He was arrested at his home Wednesday and taken to the Kane County jail, where he was held on $25,000 bail, police said.

While responding to the fight, police also learned that underage people were drinking at the Conley Drive party. Eight minors were charged with unlawful consumption of alcohol by a minor, a misdemeanor, police said. Their names were not released.

Eight adults at the party also were charged.

Police said the following were charged with unlawfully permitting a minor to become intoxicated: Jeremy Borciaardt, 21, and Andrew Serafin, 25, both of the 400 block of Guy Lane, Cortland; James Kluck, 21, and Jonathon Ramirez, 23, both of the 300 block of West DeKalb Drive, Maple Park; Steven Ortiz, 21, of the 100 block of Cross Street, Sugar Grove; Jefferey Stralka, 19, of the 1900 block of Annette Circle, Sugar Grove; and Joshua Walsh, 21, of the 100 block of Arbor Avenue, Sugar Grove. The charge is a misdemeanor.
