Man charged with injuring St. Charles officer

ST. CHARLES -- A West Chicago man has been charged after choking a police officer who was attempting to arrest him for wandering into a stranger's home in St. Charles on Halloween night, police said.

According to St. Charles police, at around 6 p.m. Saturday, 26-year-old Francisco Feliz-Moreno walked uninvited through an unlocked door into an apartment in the 1600 block of Indiana Street. A man, a woman and their two young children were all talking in the living room when Feliz-Moreno came in holding a beer bottle, police said.

Feliz-Moreno wandered around the apartment, not talking but refusing to leave. The man in the house grabbed the beer bottle, drew Feliz-Moreno out of the house and then called 911, police said.

While an officer was talking to the victim, he spotted Feliz-Moreno. Feliz-Moreno ran off as the officer approached, police said. The officer ordered him to stop, then asked for ID.

During the interview, Feliz-Moreno tried to grab back his ID. And when the officer told him he was under arrest and tried to handcuff him, Feliz-Moreno started to choke the officer, police said. The officer hit Feliz-Moreno in the head until he let go, police said.

Feliz-Moreno was taken to Delnor Hospital in Geneva and treated for facial injuries. The officer, who was not identified, was treated at Delnor for thumb injuries.

Feliz-Moreno, of the 1200 block of Kings Circle, was charged with felonies aggravated battery to a peace officer, criminal trespass to a residence and obstructing a peace officer, police said.
