West Aurora warns of suspicious man

October 30, 2009

Aurora police were searching for a white male in his early 20s who made inappropriate sexual comments toward a female Washington Middle School student around 7:55 a.m. Friday in the 100 block of Fordham near Kensington. The girl was uninjured, but startled, police said.

The West Aurora School District notified all students' legal guardians of the incident through a recorded message that School Superintendent James Rydland sent to home, cell and work phone numbers -- any number designated an emergency contact, district spokesman Mike Chapin said.

Police describe the suspect as a white male in his early 20s, with long brown hair, a goatee and mustache.

He remained in his red, four-door vehicle and hollered at the girl on her front porch, police said. The girl ran inside and told her father who phoned police.

Parents were told to take extra caution while picking children up from school Friday, and to keep their eyes peeled for the suspect vehicle.
