Darlene Senger announces she will run again

State Rep. Darlene Senger on Thursday announced her campaign for re-election.

The former Naperville city council woman, whose district includes the far East Side of Aurora, was first elected in 2008.

The Republican lists her legislative accomplishments as including securing $125 million for Route 59, passing legislation to allow Edward Hospital to open its Freestanding Emergency Clinic on time, spearheading a new law that allows police departments to catch child sexual predators quicker, and sending a resolution to Washington, D.C., that tells Congress to protect the community from the impact of the Canadian National acquisition of the EJ&E Railway.

Naperville Mayor A. George Pradel, state Sen. Dan Cronin, former state Rep. Joe Dunn and several Naperville City Council, education and Park District officials were among the supporters at Senger's campaign office.

"Darlene Senger has done a wonderful job down in Springfield," Pradel said. "When we requested money for Route 59, she took the ball, carried it and got it done. She cares about our community, and she cares about Springfield and the impact it will have on our community."

Senger says she will continue to keep the economy and ethics reform at the top of her legislative agenda.

She also says she is committed to bringing jobs to Aurora and Naperville, stimulating the economy and cleaning up state government.
